It seems as if the Rotary Family is losing quite a few of it's Alumni recently.  You've read about the loss of former Executive Director Jim Brown, who passed on March 1.  I recently learned of the passing of these former members as well.

Evan Jeney - father of current member Steve Jeney passed on March 4.  Evan's obituary can be viewed here

Lealand Secrest
- a former member that passed on March 8.  Obituary
Steve Solis - Son of Librado "Lee" Solis, both former Club members.  Steve passed on March 12.  Obituary

Dear Fellow Columbus Rotarians:
Thank you for being a Columbus Rotarian.
We continue to have many issues with member invoicing, payments, posting and aged account receivables.  Please, if you are a member with a current issue/problem, please email the following for a review:
Scott Brown, Executive Director
Roy Lydic, Treasurer
Isidoros Tiano, Assistant Treasurer
Bob Lash, Chair Audit/Finance Committee
We have been reviewing our process and making corrections.  We are not done.  Thank you to all who pay before the due date.  Thank you to all that let us know there is a problem.  We are sorry when it is not correct.  I am sorry.
The group of four above all need to hear from you with any issues/problems.  Please email all four of them and copy me.
If you missed Rotary this past Monday, you missed the first opportunity to buy Derby Day Soiree race squares hosted by Trent Smith.  After Steve Heiser, District Governor Nominee, hijacked Happy Bucks, I said he would be Trent's biggest race square buyer after our program and speaker.  Trent, how many did Steve buy?
New member: Chris McGovern gave his self-introduction.  Please reach out to Chris with your warm Columbus Rotary welcome.
March community service:
You can still sign up this week with Jordan Hunt for our Habitat For Humanity build service project this Saturday, March 16th.
Franklin County Dog Shelter on Sunday, March 24th sign up with Amanda Bowen.
SSAS picks up speed with the CRC Annual Columbus City Schools Middle School SSAS Fair/Luncheon at Valley Dale March 20th.
Events for registration now please:
District 6690 District Conference at Polaris Hilton for Friday, April 12th with a Friday only luncheon option or you can register for both days.  Let's have a huge turnout from CRC!  If you have yet to attend a District, Zone, International Convention or international service project, this is an important first step beyond your own Columbus Rotary Club experience.  Have you looked at your calendar and made your plans to join?  Please do.  Be the Inspiration.
In less than two months is our CRC Annual Derby Day Soiree chaired by Halle Markwas again this year.  We sold out last year and have moved to a larger venue.  Now is the time to buy your tickets/table for this fun social event with fundraising too  for our community service projects.  Please mark your calendar for Saturday, May 4th, sign up and invite your family and friends.  If you can help with this event, please reach out to Chair, Halle Markwas.
We started "Bring Your Graduate to Rotary" luncheon/program last July that was an initial success.  It is back and in June where it belongs going forward on Monday, June 17th with Kathy Sullivan, former NASA astronaut and first female to walk in space as our guest speaker.  Last year, we had graduates from middle school, high school, college and advanced degrees later in life.  All are graduates and all are welcome.  Please contact me if you would like to help chair this event.
Be the Inspiration!
Yours in Rotary, President Calloway

Miami '81 "Love and Honor"

Each week we rely upon a number of volunteers to help make our meetings flow smoothly.  These volunteer positions are;
Front Porch Greeter - welcoming folks on porch or in front hall and providing directions and assistance
Guest Sign In - provide a names badge and sign in guests at visitors at the round table in the front hall
Check In - Collect lunch fees, dues, checks, etc at the table just inside the room and log the attendance of our members
NEW OPPORTUNITY - Audio Visual Team.  These people might help run the power points during the meeting, set up the computer and projector before the meeting, run the associated wires for microphones, speakers and computer, and/or help adjust the volume during the meeting.  This is especially important in the absence of the Executive Director.

Watch for the Sign Up Genius coming soon to volunteer for these opportunities.
March 11 Invocation

When I was called to ask if I would do the invocation or thought for today, I
thought to keep it politically correct and non-denominational. With this in mind, let
us pray that someday the importance of being politically correct will take a back
seat to being spiritually correct.
It is good to recognize how different we are. Our talents, our dreams, our
backgrounds, our occupations. And it is good to know that when You created each
of us, You broke the mold. No one is exactly like anyone else. Even our thumb
print and our voice tell us how unique we are. Yet, we thank You that we can take
these differences and mobilize them for the good of Rotary and our community. In
our differences we can think the same thoughts and move together toward a
common goal. Bless us as we meet together.
Now for the blessing of St. Patrick’s Day – May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the
blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
Thank You for our individuality and also for our common bond. Now go
forward and find your pot of gold. Amen.

The Enterprise Academy has been moving smoothly along at Franklin University for the last four weeks. We have one more class this coming Monday before students will be mentoring at a business site for the following two Mondays. The class started with 29 students and 27 are still enrolled after four weeks.

Several Columbus Rotarians have been excellent guest speakers including Scott Whitlock, Manana Fribley and Malik Moore. Anish Shah was also a guest speaker. Several Rotarians will mentor students during their business visits. They include Mark Shy with Brexton Development, Manana Fribley with Home 2 Suites, John Koetz of WE Davis Insurance Agency and Tracey Najera of the Children's Defense Fund. We are also using Two Caterers who has been very supportive in working with Enterprise Academy students in the past.

Our student presentations will take on Monday, March 25 at Fisher Hall on the Franklin University Campus. I will extend an invitation for Rotarians to attend at a meeting in March.
Jim Duzan - Chairperson, Columbus Rotary Enterprise Academy
