FUND THE FIFTY

Terry Davis and President Elect John O'Meara introduced our 2018 Columbus Rotary Annual Services Campaign on September 17.
FUND THE 50!
Each year we have 50+ projects to fund and your dollars will help us reach our $85,000 goal.  With a gift of $365 from all members we will be able to Fund the 50 in the 2019-20 Rotary Year.  You can donate at any Club Luncheon, pay online, or make a pledge now and pay when convenient.  If you would like to donate on a monthly basis we can send you detailed directions how to make that automatic payment.

(Blue type will link you to our online payment system)

NOTE FROM PRESIDENT CALLOWAY

Note from President Calloway:

We had a fun annual fall golf outing last Friday at Safari.  Thank you to Chair-Bill Reiber for another great outing.  Bill has chaired all four of these since 2015!  Yes, my strong team won but most importantly, one of my guest is now saying he will join!

Fifteen of us, both Rotarians and several family guests, successfully planted trees on the Southside at Greenlawn last Saturday morning.  Thank you to Chair-Dave Kaldy with special thanks to Mark Shy and John O’Meara for a most successful Rotary service project.

Great to see Halle Markwas and her 7 month old son, Lane, on Monday at our luncheon.
We are pleased to have Kathleen Lach-Rowan join our club Board to fill an open Director seat.  Please congratulate Kathleen.

Bill Corbett who recently resigned from the club Board to move back to the Northeast late this year is having hip replacement surgery October 9th.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Our next luncheon/program is in two weeks on October 15th.  We have something for everyone with a full slate of events starting in September and rocking through October.  Please participate as much as you can.  Please read on and sign up/show up.  Thank you.

Be the Inspiration!

Yours in Rotary, Calloway
BRIARWOOD TROUT OUTING

Do you like to fly fish?  Would you like to?

Rotarians and friends are invited to join us for fly fishing on October 5 at Briarwood Sporting Club in Zanesfield around noon.  You don't need waders or a fancy vest.  Just a good attitude.   Equipment can be provided for those learners who attend.  Contact Dwight Hurd or Carl Faehnle to attend.

Above Dwight Hurd continues to teach Mark Bober the art of fly casting at last year's fishing.  Below is a group that joined in the past.

MIRROR LAKE & POMERENE HALL TOUR

Pomerene Hall is part of the larger Mirror Lake District at THE Ohio State University and was recently renovated to create modern learning environments for students and faculty in data analytics, linguistics and the history of art. As one of Ohio State’s most iconic buildings, Pomerene Hall was originally built in 1922 and once served as the university’s women’s student union. The project was completed in June and is now open for us to tour.  join us for a behind-the-scenes tour on October 9 and enjoy a sneak peek through this Pomerene Hall Video Tour
We will assemble at the Faculty Club for lunch at 1130 on Tuesday, Oct 9.  We will eat lunch, then burn it off walking on the tour.  A hearty salad with grilled chicken has been preordered at the restaurant.  Cost is $25 per person. Guests are welcome.  Our Rotary speaker a few months ago, Jay Kasey, the Senior Vice President of Administration & Planning at The Ohio State University will lead our tour personally.  We will conclude around 1pm.  Parking is on your own and the closest garage is the one attached to the student union.  A map will be sent of where to park and go for lunch to all of those registered a few days before the tour.  Please contact michael@schoedinger.com or 614-429-5754 to hold your spot on this tour.
Columbus Rotary and the Ronald McDonald House
Community Service w/ RMH called “Team Cuisine”.
It’s a program where groups and companies volunteer their time to help prepare and serve meals for the families of the hospitalized children.
The program is under the guidance of their chef. They purchase the food, come up with the recipes, and provide the cookware.

We have signed up for a lunch slot on…
Date: Tuesday, October 16
Time: 10 am – 1 pm
We basically show up at 10 am, prepare, serve the meal, clean up and we’re done by at 1 pm.

It’s a great opportunity for us to make a difference and create lasting memories for the families.
Manana and Amanda Bowen will be taking sign-ups. We need 7 more ppl to sign-up.
