How close are we to a polio-free world? What’s needed to finish the job? Can we make history together?

Join us on 23 October for our third annual World Polio Day event. Rotary International will be streaming live from New York City, so tune in at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time to watch a global status update on the fight to end polio and take part in the conversation. Guests will include Global Polio Eradication Initiative partners, celebrity ambassadors, polio survivors, and others.
If you can’t join us live, you can still be a part of this moment in history. Share your voice online, advocate with your government, or create your own World Polio Day event.

As of the end of September there are only 48 cases of polio in the world all located in Pakistan and Afghanistan. But as in many endeavors the last measure needed to reach a goal is often the most difficult to achieve. We must be diligent in pressing forward everyday to make sure polio is eliminated forever. Rotary announced its goal of a polio free world in 1986 and the world followed us and we are still leading today.

"Innovation Generation"
Superintendent Dan Good
Innovation Generation is an initiative that gives Central Ohio high school students the access they need to develop skills that are essential for today’s fastest-growing jobs.
As part of central Ohio’s Pathways to Prosperity Network—a network established in nine states—we assemble high school, college and work-based experiences so that students graduate with economically viable career credentials. In addition, students get a head start on postsecondary studies. Preparing today’s students for postsecondary success is important to us and to Ohio’s workforce.

Columbus Rotary has always been a strong, vibrant Club in Central Ohio.  To continue our century of service to the area we need to assure that we are always introducing Rotary and its concepts to new people.  Regardless of your position, your age or the last time that you proposed a new member we encourage everyone to consider inviting your friends and associates to our events as a way to introduce them to Rotary. To make it even easier for you, a new committee is hosting a gathering focused on just this concept.

The Columbus Rotary Next committee invites you to reach out to young professionals (40 and younger) in Columbus and invite them to join us for an informational Cocktail Hour on Tuesday, November 10th.  The event will be held at Bravo Restaurant at Lennox Town Center (1803 Olentangy River Rd.) from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.  A short, informal program will be provided to encourage our guests to consider membership in the club.

Appetizers will be provided as well a complimentary cocktail for our young professional guests.  Rotarians can enjoy a cash bar.  Please RSVP with the name/s of your guests at this link:
.  This event is open to all Rotarians who bring a perspective Young Professional.  If you have questions, please contact Jen Koma at

Let's Get It Done for Rotary!  This campaign is the cornerstone to what will be available next year for Club projects and activities.  Without your support we would not be able to continue our 95 year history with Colerain Elementary School.

Fill out your pledge form this Monday, drop off a check in the mail or pay on the Club website.  Every dollar helps!

The much awaited and anticipated 2015 Dictionary Project is upon us. I am sure everyone is tingling with excitement, as always.

We have already started to deliver the dictionaries to the students!  Now is the time to get yours out to the schools.  If you didn't sign up but would like to ride along with someone, call Scott Brown.
This year we are trying to get ALL schools delivered between October 5th and 16th. A two week window is an effort to not miss any students that switch schools.
Please let Tim Maghie know when you've delivered dictionaries this year, your efforts are much appreciated.
Looking forward to another successful year.

Last year the Vocational Service Committee generated more than $3,000 through participation in their monthly raffle.  The raffle features a Columbus Rotarian speaking about their company and position.  Retired? Sign up to talk about a special passion or project.  Each Rotarian that participates as a speaker donates a raffle prize.
On October 19 the featured Raffle Prize is a Kindle Fire HD Tablet.  We will also hold a raffle on November 9th and 23rd.  Contact Doug Gouty if you would like to participate.
