15th Annual Service Above Self High School Fair is Monday, May 14
Amazing But True
The 15th Annual Service Above Self High School Fair is Monday, May 14 at Valley Dale. As always, Rotarians are encouraged to take this detour from the Boat House to Valley Dale and celebrate the 60+ community service projects conducted by students from all 21 high schools in the Columbus City Schools. Hundreds of students giving thousands of hours in service to others. Priceless & deserving of a big Rotary turnout.

Agenda
11:00-11:50       Fair attendees walk through the project exhibition space to talk with the student community service teams and:
  • Learn about the projects.
  • Reinforce the students’ efforts.
  • Provide students the opportunity to engage with community leaders and practice presentation skills, confidence, etc.
12:00-1:15         Luncheon
  • Welcome and Remarks. Columbus Rotary President Paul Blevins. Columbus City Schools’ Interim Superintendent Dr. John Stanford. Mayor Andrew Ginther. City Council Member Priscilla Tyson.
  • Recognition of corporate sponsors and others with key roles in the Student Service Above Self Program.
  • Recognition of student community service project teams.
  • Community service project presentations by four selected high school teams.
  • Presentation of Columbus Rotary’s Service Above Self and Make A Difference Scholarships.

Parking is free, plentiful and right next to Valley Dale for easy access to the Luncheon/Fair.
We need a good count of attendees. Please let Rick Studer know if you’ll be attending and if you want to bring a guest. By May 4 please. rickstuder@columbusrotary.org   614-915-8149
2018 Exemplary Service Awards
In any given year, members of our club participate in more than 50 service efforts. These include service to our club, our community and communities around the world. No one person participates in all or even most of these projects, so none of us can know who is the person or persons that are really making all of these efforts a success.

Members of our club lead these efforts, often working behind the scenes and not receiving recognition for the great work that they are doing. You can help us change that! You no doubt know one or more club members who are doing extraordinary work on behalf of our club and the people we serve. Take a few minutes to complete the nomination form for the Exemplary Sevice Awards to help us provide well deserved recognition to these great Rotarians. Supporting documentaion strengthens the nomination. Awards can be presented for volunteer efforts in each of Rotary's avenues of service, so several individuals can be recognized each year.

The Exemplary Service Awards is an annual program where we strive to recognize members of our club for the great volunteer work that they are doing. Nominations are due in to John O'Meara or Scott Brown by the end of the meeting (1:00) on May 21st. Past winners will be helping to determine this year's winners. We will be presenting these awards in June. The nomination forms are available at the sign in desk at Monday's meeting or can be downloaded by clicking here. We hope that you can help us identify the most deserving club members for these awards.
