Membership Newsletter
November 18, 2020

Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
We'd like you to join us.

We'd like to thank you for your membership in Columbus Rotary.

What a Rotary Year we've had, and not had, not including March through June.  However, the club has been working to maintain our activities and meetings.  Since July Columbus Rotary has hosted 16 weekly meetings, 10 fellowship opportunities, 6 service projects, and one community 5K.  We have  blood drive, bell ringing, and other opportunities planned through December. Check later stories for details.

We wanted you to know that we’ve not been idle and ask that you continue your membership in the Club as we all work through this together.  We are here to help.  Want a Zoom tutorial?  Just ask.  Want to get involved at Windsor STEM?  Just ask.  Have a service project to propose?  Again, you just need to ask.   We encourage all of our members to get involved when, where, and how they can.  We can’t thank you enough for staying with us during these tough times and look forward to working with you to forge our future.
Will you take up my weekly dare today?

Call someone that you haven't seen on one of our zoom meetings.

Better Together!
November 23, 2020 - VIRTUAL MEETING @ 12:00 PM

French Wine Expert

Mickael Rouyer
Director at Maison du Vin de BLAYE

Thanks to Zoom we will be importing our speaker on Monday, November 23 from France. Mickael is an an expert in Bordeaux wine with previous experience in Champagne & Burgundy.  Trainer in Wine Marketing at the School of Wine and Spirits- Burgundy School Business and IPC - Kedge Wine & Spirits Academy Bordeaux.

THANK YOU!  As of today 113 donors have pledged $ 70,366 toward the campaign.  That represents 51% of our membership.
An additional $8,675 will be available from our October matching program.  Thank you for getting us to $79,041.

We strongly encourage you to donate any amount to the campaign. We strive to reach 100% participation in this campaign and have an anonymous donation that will assist us to report that number at the end of the campaign, but that won't get us to our monetary goal.

This pin will be bestowed to those who have given $500 or more to the campaign.  This amount is the average donation from our previous campaign.  A list of these donors is included.

Annual Bell Ringing
Each year for more than many can recall Columbus Rotarians have gathered to take a shift at ringing a bell for the Salvation Army.  We've rung bells on downtown corners, in the Nationwide walkway and at CBJ games.  On December 5 we have an opportunity to ring at Kroger in Worthington.  (CBJ games are on hold 'til after the first of the year.)  We will take 2 volunteers per shift on Dec 5 and use Sign UP genius to get everyone on the schedule.  We have and will follow Covid protocols as provided by the Salvation Army. You can get a copy from the club office.

If you will be joined by a family member or friend PLEASE make sure to sign up for BOTH spots on the list.

Thanks to a partnership between Rotarians Cory Paul (Red Cross) and Stacy Simon (Church of Scientology) a blood drive is scheduled for December 13, 2020 from 1 - 6 PM.  The two organizations far exceed any cleaning protocols.

One has to SCHEDULE an appointment by calling the Red Cross or by contacting Stacy.  See details below.

Past President John O'Meara reports that our recent Walking with the Dead was successful again.  We had 195 participants compared to 251 last year. However, we were fortunate that four new sponsors joined the event and we took other steps to increase profits.  We made about $700 more than we did last year. $4223 to club and $286.19 to Foundation. Total $4509.19.  It was a great event on Halloween, in a cemetery, with a full moon, and clear skies.  Many attendees thanked us for having an in-person, social distanced and aware event.
A new term was coined recently by Nanci McCorkle.  Nanci's word is ROMAZING.  It's time we all show off how ROMAZING our club truly is.
Since July 1 we have had 19 fellowship and service events for members and guests.  That's ROMAZING.  In addition to these events we've had 15 weekly Rotary Zoom meetings.  #ROMAZING!

During this time we are working to bring Rotary to you in ways that many feel comfortable.  Please share this Romazing news with others.    Perhaps we will see you soon?
