BRING YOUR GRADUATE TO ROTARY
It's not to late to sign up!

At our Monday, June 17 luncheon, we are going to have our second annual "Rotary - Take a Grad to Lunch" event.   .  We will recognize the grads and their Rotary hosts from the podium (no speaking required), and we will include their names on a Powerpoint  presentation at the luncheon.   We'd like to know their names and schools in advance - so please let Galen Graham know (galengraham1@gmail.com).  We will also have a sign-up table at our June 10th luncheon.

Please bring a graduate with you to lunch that day - they can be a graduate from middle school, high school, college, a vocational program, or be starting or completing military service/training..  This will be a nice recognition of their accomplishments!  See you on the 17th!
FAMILY PICNIC

Imagine a warm and sunny day at the park with birds chirping, squirrels foraging, an the aroma of hamburgers sizzling on a hot grill.  Children are having fun playing games and exploring natural park wonders as adults mingle with fellow Rotarians and friends, play cards, or simply relax and share a meal.

Join us for the Rotary Family Picnic on Sunday, June 23 from noon to 3:00 PM at Scioto Audubon Metro Park.
 Delicious food.  Games.  Music.  A few surprises.
Tickets are $15 for 18 or older
Under 18 free.

Tickets can be purchased each Monday through June 17.  CLICK HERE TO PAY

NOTE FROM PRESIDENT CALLOWAY
Dear Fellow Columbus Rotarian:

Well, I must say I missed Columbus Rotary last week on our family beach vacation.  Thank you all for a warm welcome upon my "return".  This piece will have many word in " "....

I felt a bit rusty on Monday but was inspired to be back to the Boathouse for Columbus Rotary's greatest hour of one's week or better yet an hour "plus".

CSX guest speaker Rusty was exceptional in his education about rail transportation, their business model and value proposition.  Saying good bye at the exit door, I heard a great many say he was fabulous and they came in with low expectations as they knew little about commercial railroad business.  He would make a great Columbus Rotarian.

I certainly expect that his friend and introducer, Past President Mike Schoedinger, is working on that as I write... of course I am willing to help Mike be successful.

If you missed Rusty's CSX presentation and Q & A, please watch the Channel 3 recording now via our links or YouTube which is so easy "Columbus Rotary CSX"...shazam it pops up!  All 29 minutes and 40 seconds.  Catch it now!

I have but a few more of these weekly newsletter Notes as President so here goes... If you are reading, you may be disappointed but others may be relieved.  Past President Steve Heiser also our District 6690 next District Governor in one year on 7/1/2020 said it was a bold move when I started last July.

Buying a new home (20 year old ranch in Westerville) before putting my 120 year old home of 28 years up for sale was not in my plan while serving as CRC President. Oh well, it is testing my band width since mid April.

After showing to the sixth prospective buyer(s) tonight after work for 2 hours and then cutting my lawn by flood lights in back yard and street lights in front yard, I then moved a grandchild baby crib to our new house.

I have only moved our six Tommy Bahama beach chairs and now our grandchild baby crib to our new home...maybe my bourbon bar next?

Grabbing some assemblance of "dinner" back home at 10:30 PM and watching The Golf Channel for pre-US Open golf coverage, I decided to pull out my "favor" that we included with all who joined our special Kentucky Bourbon Tour 2018 bourbon glasses.  The "tough" decision was to pour Woodford Reserve double oaked from our 2014 tour or Blantons from our 2018 tour of Buffalo Trace...  what do you think I chose?

As your president, I have truly enjoyed "attempting" to be a servant leader which was my aspiration and heart of my installation speech last June.  You decide how I have faired but here is my take:
I have tried my best to be a servant leader and have both succeeded and failed.  How have I failed?  As President, you receive "all" feedback.  As President I appreciated all feedback but pushed back too, how so?
Well, complaints without solutions were not well received so the Rotarian who complained learned that I offered them to be part of the solution.  Fortunately, it was well received and made me feel good about Rotary.

If you are an early reader today of this weekly newsletter, you are reading while 15 of us are preparing dinner at the Ronald McDonald House tonight for a fabulous "pop up" service project.  We have had a great year of Pop Ups!!

Please pull out your calendar, join us for Bring Your Graduate to Rotary Monday, June 17th;
Rotary float night, Friday, June 21st;
2nd Annual CRC Friends and Family Picnic Sunday, June 23rd and
Indian Dance for Polio Plus on Saturday, June 29th.

Be the Inspiration!

Yours in Rotary, President Calloway
