The Power of a Pet

Dr. Rustin Moore, OSU
Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine
Ruth Stanton Chair in Veterinary Medicine

Dean Moore explores the benefits of the human-animal bond. Research has shown that people who own a pet have lower weights, improved hormone regulation and decreased stress, blood pressure, and cholesterol.

A FEW FACTS
It has come to our attention that a few basic facts should be shared about the raffle.
  • 1500 tickets sold may provide the Club and Club Foundation with $70,000 that will benefit our projects and activities
  • This could be the largest fundraiser the club has had in recent history
  • This raffle replaces the Derby Day Auction. In other words we won't be asking for your condo, timeshare, club membership etc.
  • Share the raffle to your social media page with one click from the website or club facebook page
  • If every member accounts for 5+ tickets sales we sell out
  • Raffle ends April 30 - Award announced May 6
  • Contact Scott Brown or President Jack with questions
BRIARWOOD TROUT OUTING

Do you like to fly fish?  Would you like to?

Rotarians and friends are invited to join those fishing on May 12 at Briarwood Sporting Club in Zanesfield.  Contact Dwight Hurd or Carl Faehnle to attend.  15 spaces are available.  Equipment can be provided for those learners who attend.

Above Dwight Hurd continues to teach Mark Bober the art of fly casting at last year's fishing foray.  Below is a group that joined in the past.
EMPTY TABLES

We've noticed a lot of empty seats lately at Rotary.  We hope this is due to snowbirds and spring break.   We can't wait to see everyone again, so if you've missed a few meetings, can you make some room on your schedule for Rotary?  Hope to see you soon!
THANKS FOR CHECKING IN

Each week we ask Rotarians to grab their name badge and check in when they get to our meetings.  For the most part you do, but at times we get busy and forget.  Understandable.  Please try to stop by the table each week so we can mark your attendance.

Additionally, each member owes $6 when they attend.  Some membership categories pre-pay this meeting fee.  For those that have not prepaid, we collect $6 at the door.  From EVERYONE.  "I'm not eating today." still costs $6.

If you have any questions about the fees you owe each week, please contact Scott at the office.

WATER WELL PROJECT in ETHIOPIA

A few facts: As you may know, Rotarian Mimi Tadesse has been the leader of the Water Well project in Ethiopia that you may have heard about. She is from Ethiopia, and her organization helps impoverished women in an area there called Oromia. This project involves drilling 3 water wells which will serve approximately 1000 people. The cost of the project is approximately $45K. We have donations from private donors, and other Rotary Clubs but the majority of the money will come from a Global Grant that our District has submitted to Rotary International.
