YOUR SEMI ANNUAL DUES
ATTENTION!!!  Really...Please read this.

You should have received an electronic invoice for your Semi Annual dues from QuickBooks and the ROTARY CLUB OF COLUMBUS.

We have recently transferred our bookkeeping services to an outside vendor.  This is our first foray into billing via our new online system.  You will see your semi annual invoice in this email.  It will also contain a statement section showing any activity, prior balances, etc.  As we continue to use this system we will most likely find ways to improve your experience.

You will note that one's dues and meeting or lunch fees are broken apart.  We did this to help members better understand the costs associated with your annual membership.  On the food side we are not in the business to make money, so many of these costs are passed right on to The Boat House.  For those prepaying meals, the cost is actually beneficially as the price is set below our weekly per plate charge.  On the dues side one quarter of the annual fees are paid to our Rotary District and Rotary International.

As has been the case, you can make a payment on our website, make a payment at a Rotary meeting and/or send a payment to the office at 950 Michigan Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

Join Leaders  Exchange Ideas  Take Action

Founded in 1975, Canine Companions for Independence® is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs to children, adults and veterans to ensure quality partnerships. The assistance dogs we breed, raise and train aren’t just the ears, hands and legs of their human partners. They’re also goodwill ambassadors and often, their best friends. They open up new opportunities and new possibilities, and spread incredible joy. We unite people with dogs in a powerful program that leads to greater independence and confidence. We are excited to share more information about the growth of this program with the Columbus Rotary including a presentation by one of our graduate teams and a local puppy raiser.

ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
Columbus Rotary's most prestigious award will be presented on December 18 to one deserving member.  Who will it be?  Only the committee knows.  Come celebrate with the Club and the winner as we present the Rotarian of the Year Award!

The day will open with a special musical presentation by the Fort Hayes Metropolitan Singers.
SPOUSES/PARTNER LUNCH

President Paul is reviving a former tradition of inviting spouses/partners to the last Rotary lunch of the year on December 18.  There will be holiday entertainment for the Fort Hayes Youth Choir.  If all goes according to plan we will award the Rotarian of the Year Award that day, and have a presentation from Canine Companions.  If you plan to have a spouse, partner, guest accompany you, please contact the Office to make sure we account for the right amount of meals.

2017 Annual Service Campaign

What Percent Are You?

We are focused on 100% participation of all Columbus Rotarians in this year's Annual Service Campaign.  If everyone helps, with what they can afford, our fundraising goal will be exceeded.  Donate today!  No amount will be turned away.

The Campaign has collected $50,000 toward our goal of $80,000.    That's FANTASTIC!!! Unfortunately our participation goal is not raising as fast as the donated dollars.  Just 125 of 300 of our members have donated to the campaign to date.

Donating is easy.   Pay with your credit card on a Monday.  Write a check.  Go online HERE right now.

TRAVEL TO RAFIKI IN 2018

Are you interested in traveling to our International Service Project in Kenya with Rotarian Terry Davis.  A trip to the Rafiki orphanage is planned for 2018.  More details will be shared after our Dec 18 meeting.

Dates of the 2018 Rafiki trip are:
February 13 to February 23, 2018.

Anticipate under $4000/person double occupancy including safari.

GROUP EXCHANGE LOOKING FOR LEADER
You have a wonderful opportunity to submit yourself or find a qualified applicant in your community that would like to travel overseas in 2018. If selected, they will travel as a member of a Rotary NGSE team with expenses and travel paid by The Rotary District 6690 Coordinating Clubs. This will be a leadership, cultural, service and vocational experience of a lifetime. The selected team will also see how Rotary is fostering world peace and cultural understanding. Go find someone to share this opportunity with.

Interested parties should send a request to NGSE Coordinating Chair, 77 South Cassady Ave, Bexley Ohio 43209 or janzupnick59@gmail.com.

THE FAMILY OF ROTARY

Rotarian Lori Damron is over halfway with the radiation portion of her treatment. We’re in week 5 of 6. Lori had her weekly appointment for labs recently and everything is still good. Lori’s kicking mass and doing awesome.  Thank you for all the support, comments, encouragement, positive vibes and prayers. Keep it coming.

Rotarian Nancy Trux fell on her dog a week ago.  Nancy reports the dog is OK, but she has three fractured ribs.

Rotarian Calloway Robertson
had knee surgery on Dec 6.  He expects to be up and around soon.

Rotarian Scott Brown's wife, Missy, is having knee surgery to repair a meniscus on Dec. 8 ('tis the season).  She wants to be up and around before nurse Scott will allow.

Share your news with the rest of the Club.  Info sheets are available on Monday's or you can email Scott.
BELL RINGING WITH A TWIST
Once again we will be assisting the Salvation Army staffing a few Red Kettles and Bells this Year.  On December 20th a group will be ringing bells at the Columbus Blue Jackets game.  Starting at 5:30 PM we will ring for about 2 hours.  Volunteers can meet at the Arena Tim Horton's, 200 W Nationwide Blvd.

JoAnne Schorsten and John Easton are leading the charge.  Contact them JoAnne (click on her name in red) to join the rest of the volunteers.
THE ROTARY MAGAZINE OPTION

Do you like receiving The Rotarian?  Did you know that you can receive it electronically?
If you'd like to change your receipt of this publication please send SCOTT BROWN a separate email before Dec. 31.  Your options include: 1) Receiving it electronically, 2) Choosing to NOT receive it.

DO NOT CONTACT SCOTT IF YOU WANT TO MAINTAIN THE STATUS QUO.  During the holiday season messages like "Scott - I want to keep getting The Rotarian in the mail like I do now." will not spread holiday cheer!  Remember you are one of potentially 300 emails answering this one request.
