"The Rhythm of Business" Tom Krouse, President & CEO
In 2004 McDonald's Corp, who had purchased Donato's in 1999, was talking about shutting pizzerias. We've heard the story about the Grote family rallying and buying back Central Ohio's favorite pizza place. Since 2010 Donato's has seen three of the company's most profitable years. Clearly the vision and leadership model that are in place are working.
In 2014 Tom received Business First's C-Suite Executive of the Year Award. At the time, Tom was asked about his yardstick for success. "I believe you measure success by how much growth, engagement or energy you provide a person or organization. While financials are an easy yardstick, they fail to measure what matters most – a sense or purpose or direction", he said
Tom Krouse, President & CEO of Donatos Pizza, will discuss concepts designed to bring energy and maximum output in your organization. Principles found in music creation are applied to business leadership. Imagine that engaged employees and profitable results are actually beautiful music. Tom will tell us how we can write that song.

Just wanted to take a quick moment to say thank you for the invitation for our kids to attend the Rotary Luncheon this week. The kids had a blast and they came back to school excited to share their experience. The kids really enjoyed hearing from the OSU Head Wrestling Coach Tom Ryan and said his message about changing your mindset and Service Above Self really resonated with them.
Each KIPPster sat at a different table and several people came up to our team member who attended with the boys after to say how impressed they were with our kids' ability to talk about school and college as well as their manners.
After the discussion the boys asked to meet Coach Ryan. One of our KIPPsters, Paris, was super sweet and told him that he appreciated hearing his story and that he is now also interested in wrestling.
If these pictures wet your appetite to spend some time fly fishing, now is your chance to join the fun again. Rotarians, friends, family are all invited to join the Woods & Water Committee on Friday, May 6 at Briarwood Sporting Club in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
Sign up with Carl Faehnle. There is no cost unless you keep the fish you catch.
We gather around noon for some lunch and then head to the streams. Bring your own lunch, snacks, drinks.
Did you see the new picture of John O'Meara? He sent "A fuzzy selfie from the top of Lobuche Peak (Elevation: 20,075′) with Everest off to the side."
Our own John O'Meara is back in Nepal on his quest to summit Mt. Everest. He took a club flag with him so has an excused absence(s) for the next several months. If you would like to follow John and his team's journey you can find it here; www.mountainguides.com/everast-south16.shtml.

What the Derby Day Soiree’ helps support!
The Columbus Rotary Foundation gives more than $250,000 annually to our community. These funds focus on improving the lives of children and families locally and in other countries. One local beneficiary of our Derby Day Soiree’ is Columbus City Schools. …..providing more than $100,000 in scholarships to over 100 students annually. Internationally, we support medical missions to other countries to correct cleft lips and palates of needy children.
And, you can be engaged in many different ways! If you are a newer member to Columbus Rotary, getting engaged with Derby Day is a great way to get to know other members and have fun at the same time! This is a short term commitment that can lead you to many other opportunities! Take a look at some of the ways you can help, which are listed below.
It's time to raft the river again. Jim Tornes and Chris Henney have arranged to travel down the Big Darby again with Rotarians, friends and famiy. The crew will leave on June 4, 2016. Staff from the Metro Parks are planning to join us as well for a nature presentation.

District Governor Elect, 2015-16 District 6690
As was communicated in an earlier email to you, our District Assembly (meeting) is scheduled for Saturday April 23rd from 8:00 to 1:00 at Zane State College in Zanesville. So much is changing and evolving within Rotary in all Five Avenues of Service that it's really important to your club's future that as many members from your club participate in District Assembly Training as possible.
Even though only Club Presidents Elect are required to attend, I highly encourage all clubs to ask their key committee chairs in the areas of Membership, Public Image, Club Foundation, Club Global Grant Chairs, New Generations and Officers and other club members to attend.
Here's the deal:
For only $20 per attendee, your members receive 4 hours of great District 6690 Rotary fellowship and seminars pertaining to what your club needs to be doing and focusing on to remain relevant in the future.
Contact Scott Brown if you are interested in attending.
