GOOD NEWS TO TELL
President Tricia urged everyone recently to share their news with your Rotary Family.  Good or bad we want to be able to share that news with the entire Club.  Let Scott know about your news to be shared here.

Rotarian Drew Knoesel welcomed baby Quinn Robert Knoesel on April 1.  Grandma Rotarian Sandy Knoesel couldn't be happier.

Members of the Grove City Rotary Club were on hand at our last meeting to Thank Columbus Rotary for sponsoring their club 20 years ago.  Members are invited to attend their upcoming celebration on April 23rd at Shadowbox Live in the Brewery District.  tickets are available at www.gravecityrotary.org

Herb Reimenschneider tossed out the first Derby Day bid for a bottle of Maker's Mark Bourbon on March 14.  Violet Meek  increased the bid on April 4.  A second bottle has been added to up the prize.

What the Derby Day Soiree’ helps support!

The Columbus Rotary Foundation gives more than $250,000 annually to our community. These funds focus on improving the lives of children and families locally and in other countries. One local beneficiary of our Derby Day Soiree’ is Columbus City Schools. …..providing more than $100,000 in scholarships to over 100 students annually. Internationally, we support medical missions to other countries to correct cleft lips and palates of needy children.

And, you can be engaged in many different ways! If you are a newer member to Columbus Rotary, getting engaged with Derby Day is a great way to get to know other members and have fun at the same time! This is a short term commitment that can lead you to many other opportunities! Take a look at some of the ways you can help, which are listed below.

HERE HE GOES AGAIN
Our own John O'Meara is heading back to Nepal on his quest to summit Mt. Everest.  He took a club flag with him so has an excused absence(s) for the next several months.  If you would like to follow John and his team's journey you can find it here; www.mountainguides.com/everast-south16.shtml.

Here John crosses ice fields during his previous attempt.
2016 DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

FROM THE DESK OF:
Steve Sandbo, DGE
District Governor Elect, 2015-16  District 6690

As was communicated in an earlier email to you, our District Assembly (meeting) is scheduled for Saturday April 23rd from 8:00 to 1:00 at Zane State College in Zanesville. So much is changing and evolving within Rotary in all Five Avenues of Service that it's really important to your club's future that as many members from your club participate in District Assembly Training as possible.

Even though only Club Presidents Elect are required to attend, I highly encourage all clubs to ask their key committee chairs in the areas of Membership, Public Image, Club Foundation, Club Global Grant Chairs, New Generations and Officers and other club members to attend.

Here's the deal:

For only $20 per attendee,  your members receive 4 hours of great District 6690 Rotary fellowship and seminars pertaining to what your club needs to be doing and focusing on to remain relevant in the future.

Contact Scott Brown if you are interested in attending.

ROTARY RIVER TRIP
It's time to raft the river again.  Jim Tornes and Chris Henney have arranged to travel down the Big Darby again with Rotarians, friends and famiy.  The crew will leave on June 4, 2016.  Staff from the Metro Parks are planning to join us as well for a nature presentation.

Trapper John's Canoe Livery is again our host.
7141 London Groveport Rd, Grove City, OH 43123
