Matt McCoy
iHeart Columbus
Sports Director

Matt McCoy has been working in the 610 WTVN sports department for 20 years and has been Sports Director since 2006.  Matt is the leader of our Best Buckeye Coverage team, hosting the pregame and postgame shows on Ohio State football Saturday’s. In addition, he hosts 610 WTVN Bucksline, a listener call in show, which airs weekly during both Buckeye football and basketball seasons.

Matt is also prominently featured daily on WTVN’s morning and afternoon drive time programs. He anchors sportscasts every weekday from 5am-9am during the Joel Riley Show and from 4pm-7pm during the afternoon. He also co-hosts a daily afternoon show on 105.7 The Zone called “The Drive with Jackson and McCoy” with Stanley Jackson, former OSU QB. He is a veteran reporter who votes in the Associated Press college football and basketball polls. Matt covers all sports, with a focus on the Buckeyes, Blue Jackets, Browns, Bengals, Indians, Reds, Crew and all things Columbus.

Matt has lived in Central Ohio for more than 30 years and is a 1987 Ohio State University graduate and a former Buckeye swimmer. He loves staying active and exercises daily.

In addition to his passion for sports, Matt has a passion for family. He has been married for 18 years, has an 13-year old daughter, a 11-year old son and one overweight cat

Returning for a third year is our Spring Recruiting Event: March Membership Madness.  The Club had great success in our inaugural run for this event in 2016, recruiting 30 new members between March and June.  We need the same response this year.

Our event mirrors college basketball's March Madness, pitting teams against each other every two weeks until we name a CHAMPION!

Membership is the lifeblood of any Rotary organization.  Yes we are a service organization, but we are a membership organization first.  Members support projects, scholarships, activities and fundraisers. Without them our ability to serve the community falters drastically.

Help us out!  Invite friends and associates to visit Rotary.  Once they are in the door, we will show them what a great organization this is.  Join a Team Captain!  Captains are working on building their teams and need your participation.

The Program Committee has lined up a fantastic two months of programs featuring Bobby Hoying/BridgePark, Matt McCoy/iHeart Sports Director, Dr. Michael Drake/OSU, Lisa Courtice/United Way, Shige Yoshida and Tom Shoupe/Honda.  Add to that a chance to attend a Vocational Lunch on April 16 at a Rotarians place of employment and we have a great two months to show off our Club.

Congratulations to Halle and TJ Markwas on the birth of their first child.  Lane Anthony Markwas was born appropriately on Monday, Feb 26 at 05:19 AM.  Baby and Mom are doing well.
