HALLOWEEN IS COMING TO ROTARY

Join us for some fun and festivities on October 30 as we have a bit of fun with Halloween.  President Paul is encouraging members to dress up for our meeting.  We've already seen Darth Vader this year.  Who else might make an appearance?
THE BIG GIVE SUCESS
THANKS!
- to those who participated in the Columbus Foundation's BIG GIVE earlier this month.  Our Club Foundation received 81 transactions totaling $33,349.89, including bonus pool funds, during The Big Give!   If you've yet to let Executive Director Scott Brown know that you donated, please do so.
YOU CAN CHANGE LIVES NOW

It is the time of year for us to be especially mindful of those in need. We know and believe that Rotary changes lives. Now, ponder how much good happens because of you being a Columbus Rotarian. Our Columbus Rotary Foundation Annual Services Campaign typically funds about two thirds of our annual service project budget. If we give more, we can do more. (As you know, your club dues do not support our community service projects.) Please consider our Annual Services Campaign in October where your contribution makes a difference in what Rotary can do through your charitable donation with the thought that YOU Can Change Lives NOW.

You can contribute online at ColumbusRotary.org, by check or in person at our Monday Meetings.  Make your contribution today!

Total contributions to date, including the BIG GIVE total $39,189 nearly halfway to our goal!

UPCOMING RAFFLES
In November you will have an opportunity to participate in two special raffles benefiting the Club.

NOVEMBER 13 - The first will be as a part of a Vocational Raffle given by Jack Kennedy.  Jack is donating a replica of the USS Constitution Ship's wheel valued at $400.  Have a nautical lover in your life?  This is a chance to give them a special gift. (Providing you participate in and win the raffle.)  Of wood and brass this wheel spans more than 30".  Typical monthly raffle ticket prices will be increased on Nov. 13 for this item...but well worth it.

NOVEMBER 20 - If you are a Cigar Aficionado, or someone who wants to impress their favorite brother-in-law during the Thanksgiving Holidays, or a Buckeye Fan who wants to celebrate the upcoming WINS we are sure to have…. READ ON!

A box of 25 Cuban Cohiba Cigars was generously donated by Carol Garner, a Past Columbus Rotary President with many ties to Cuba, to our Derby Day Event. The value of the cigars is $450.  The recipient of the these cigars, John Easton, is giving Rotarians the opportunity to enjoy these very aromatic, special production cigars with a donation to the Club Foundation.

Here’s how it will work:

  • Buy the box of 25 to share with your friends or family. Value $450. The highest bidder over $500 wins! Consider going together with a couple of friends to buy the box – the value is great! Send your bid to Scott via email by Nov 17. We have an offer from a non-cigar smoking Rotarian to chip in an additional $5 per cigar if all cigars are sold!
  • If we don’t have a buyer for the box by Nov 17, we will sell them individually at our Rotary meeting right before Thanksgiving. 1=$25, 2 or more =$20 per.
