John Lowe joined Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream in 2009 with an initial goal of building the wholesale side of the business. Using grass roots sales techniques, the wholesale business began to grow. As a result, the retail business also took off, and by 2012 there were 10 scoop shops in Ohio. The need for distribution systems was important to ensure this growth continued.
Addressing this need, Lowe conceptualized Eat Well Distribution in 2012 and launched the business in 2013. As a result, Jeni’s now serves as its own distributor and sells to other food businesses as well.
John will discuss the difficult year that Jeni's has had, the changes to the business and the outlook for their future.

Rotarian Wally Johanni unexpectedly lost his granddaughter. Katie Johanni, age 21, daughter of former Rotarian Andy Johanni, passed away in her sleep on November 24, 2015. Born in Columbus, Ohio, a 2012 graduate of Upper Arlington High School, she was co-captain of the State Champion Womens Water Polo Team and co-editor of the yearbook. She studied Media, Marketing and Communication through the Scholars Program at The Ohio State University and planned to graduate this spring. She was an officer and goalie for the OSU Womens Water Polo Team. A summer intern with Leo Burnett, she dreamed of returning to Chicago. Despite health challenges throughout her life, Katie was a ray of sunshine: positive, creative and kind. She found ways to make everything special and fun. Contributions if desired may be made to the SUDEP Institute (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy) through the Epilepsy Foundation.
THANK YOU to the... 150 ColumbusRotarians and friends who have PLEDGED $54,000. They will miss out on the phone calls by the campaign A Team. If you haven't pledged...expect a call.
Though a substantial number of gifts have been made in the $365 and greater range, we have accepted a gift of $10. Every dollar counts in our campaign and each contribution counts toward our participation rate.
Now is the the time to Get It Done for Rotary. To help us to reach our $70,000 goal. To reach 100% participation. To not receive a phone call asking for your contribution.
Each program, student, and individual that we serve needs your help. A successful campaign leads to continued support of our ongoing projects. Without this support, difficult decisions will need to me made regarding which programs to fund next year.
One of the benefits of volunteering at the Kids N Kamp Holiday Party is a realization of how fortunate and blessed that you are after seeing so many children and their families that are fighting cancer. You can help these children in a variety of ways by giving just a few hours of your time. You can work in a variety of places such as the Santa Shop, games, bingo, and gift wrapping.
The party is December 6that the Eastland Career and Technical Schools, 4465 S Hamilton Rd, Groveport, OH 43125. The school is just past the entrance to Ricart’s . Please arrive by 1:30 PM and work anytime up until about 5 PM. Contact John Martin, 614-578-3598 (cell), firstname.lastname@example.org so we can give your name to the KNK volunteer coordinator.
Welcome to Columbus Rotary Tom Irelan, Bill Corbett and Matthew Schwartz.
