HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROTARY
Last week Rotary International, this week Columbus Rotary. On March 5, 1912 Paul Harris signed Columbus Rotary's official charter; which is on display in our office.  We are now 104 years old.  As we celebrate we can also ponder our future.  How will we benefit our community during our second century?  With whom will we build good will and friendships?  We are off to a good start with new projects such as Homeless Outreach, OSU Mentoring and the Columbus Rotary Obstacle Course.  What's next?

"Student Service Above Self Fair"
Rick Studer, Student Service Above Self Project Coordinator
SAS Fair Student Representatives

Students from four Columbus City High Schools and one middle school will present status reports of their community service projects – representing the 400+ high school and middle school students who are serving thousands of others in their schools, communities and around the world through the Student “Service Above Self” Project.

Created in 2003, this signature Rotary Project is designed to:
  • Help CCS nurture a culture of service by fostering community service attitudes, knowledge and skills among its high school and middle school students.
  • Enhance the quality of life for those served by student-led community service projects.
  • Foster a seamless link between classroom curriculum and project-based learning.
  • Recognize and honor participating students at the annual High School and Middle School “Service Above Self” Fairs attended by Rotarians, Columbus City Schools’ staff members and other community leaders. The H.S. Fair (May 2 at COSI) will feature 21 schools and 63 projects and the M.S. Fair (March 15 at Linmoor Education Center) will feature 26 schools and 26 projects.

Rick Studer, Project Coordinator, will also provide Project highlights and ways Rotarians can support the efforts of CCS students and staff. And he will moderate the audience Q&A.
